What a round of footy!

Round 4 was a great round, and for my footy tips i got 7 out of 8. I picked Western Bulldogs to beat Brisbane. That probably was my favorite game of the round, with Brisbane coming back at 3 quarter time, with the help of Fevola booting 4 goals. The Bulldogs had both Brown and Fev, scoreless in round 1, and dominated the midfield for two quarters. Then Brisbane started to get some run in the third quarter, and building gradual momentum with the help of the home crowd.

The other game i watched was Adelaide VS Carlton. It was a pretty shit game in comparison, and Adelaide played like crap. They had soo many scoring opportunities, but they kept scoring points.  Carlton on the other hand, took control for most of the game, and converted much better at goals. Adelaide was suppose to be a top 4 side this year, but the way they have been playing they will be lucky not to get the wooden spoon. However i remember early last year, Crows had a bad start to the season, but Neil Craig changed their game plan and strategy around after round 6. After that, they started winning alot of games, and beating good quality opposition. If one coach can get Crows out of the gutter, its Neil Craig. Also they are injury plagued, which doesn’t help.

Afl Round 4 Update

Afl round 4 is looking to be a epic round, with teams possibly fighting for their season. The Carlton and Crows game at AAMI stadium is going to be a tough battle, with the Crows season on the line with 0 wins and 4 losses. For Carlton, the supporters are angry at the coach and coaching staff, for poor performance against Essendon in round 3. It looks like Carlton coach Brett Ratten might be on the chopping board by the end of the season, if Carlton don’t pull up their socks and perform better then last year. Also supporters still pissed about the departure of Fevola, will add extra pressure on the coach. Brisbane Lions VS Western Bulldogs is going to be the best game of the round. With Brisbane on 4 wins and 0 losses, this game is going to be a absolute cracker. I think it will be close, but i reckon that Western Bulldogs will prevail. If they can shut down Brisbane in the  mid-field, for at least 3 quarters, and kick straight they should win. Its going to be a battle of the midfield. Another game worth mentioning is Fremantle VS Geelong. Fremantle has started the season of well, with 3 wins, which was highly unexpected by most AFL “experts”. I don’t think the game will be close, Fremantle are playing against the big boys in the comp, and Geelong should be able to beat them comfortably.

2010 Afl Shaping Up To Be A Great Year

Now with the NAB cup nearly finished, this years competition is going to be more tighter and competitive then ever. This year theres going to be a power struggle for top 2 positions, with St Kilda, Western Bulldogs, looking to be the most likely candidates. However other teams are closely behind in form, with Collingwood, Brisbane, Adelaide (who will start well later during the season, currently plagued with injuries) Hawks back in premiership shape, and Port Adelaide who have been looking good in the NAB cup. Lets not forget Geelong, i think they might have a slow start to the season, but will gather premiership form and momentum after round 6-7, and become a powerful force, with their immense experience during September. Carlton will go backwards without Fevola, unless they can emulate Adelaides forward line strategy. Essendon will finish the season strong, but i doubt will be much of a threat during finals time.

My top 8 predications. Till Round 7 2010

1. St Kilda

2. Wester Bulldogs

3. Geelong

4. Collingwood

5. Brisbane

6. Adelaide

7. Hawks

8. Port Adelaide -> Carlton -> Bombers

AFL betting is becoming more and more popular. Alot of online betting companies offer you a free bonus when you deposit some funds. On Sportsbet through a special promotional link, when you signup, they will match you 100% extra ontop of your first deposit. Much better then TAB. Since signing up, i’ve been betting on AFL Games, especially around finals time. I tipped St Kilda to win the grand final in 2009, which i lost. But i also had some great wins on the Brownlow using multi-betting. All i can say, make sure you take advantage of the free added money onto of your initial deposit when you sign up!

On Sportsbet around Brownlow time, i won about $270 from a $70 bet. I did about 12 different multipbets on players of each team who would get the most votes. I was soo close in winning $2000, but Matthew Richardson somehow received the most votes for Richmond. Even though he was injured for halve the year. Just goes to show the crap year they had. The top teams to look out for in 2010 are:

Brisbane – Their forward line is very strong, with big Fev.

St Kilda – Looking for revenge

Geelong – Might have a slow start, but will end strong.

Western Bulldogs – Should remain in top 4

Adelaide Crows – The ended the season strong, and will continue to be a powerful force in 2010.

Collingwood – Absolutely demolished by Geelong in the finals, had a good season, should remain a top 8 team.
